*^Here is a list of some of the characteristics of a good student. This list is a description of what a student who worked hard to do and what the teacher wants to see. By learning these characteristics, you can better understand the behavior of the daily and classes for students who successfully. The idea is to provide you with guidelines you can follow that will help you get into the business as a student, a serious success.

1. Successful students attend class regularly. They're right on time. They train themselves to listen and pay attention. If they miss a session, they feel obliged to let the instructor know why before class starts, if possible, and their reasons are legitimate and reasonable. They make sure that they get all assignments missed (by contacting the instructor or other students), and understand what is specifically covered in class. Students who successfully take responsibility for themselves and their actions.

2. Students who successfully take advantage of extra credit opportunities when offered. They show that they care about their values and are willing to work to fix it. They often do (and often challenging) optional task that many students avoid.

3. Success is the students' attention in class. They did not speak, read, or stare out the window. In other words, they are polite and respectful, even if they get a little bored. They also participate in the class, even if their efforts a bit awkward and difficult. They ask questions that the instructor knows many other students may be as well.

4. Choosing the appropriate set of classes is an important first step. Talk with your academic advisor, faculty members, and other students about the class you are considering. Ask a question about the format of the class; class requirements such as the amount of reading, papers assigned, type of tests given, and the instructors teaching style.

5. When you decide to take a class to remember to take a less demanding class along with the more demanding classes each quarter or semester. This will help you balance your workload.

6. Complete the required class for graduation at the beginning of your program, especially if they are subjects you do not like. Do not get caught up in the final years of school you need a class that creates a scheduling conflict or full.

7. Try to get a copy of class syllabus so you can see what the requirements would be for a particular class.

8. Purchase your textbooks before class begins a few weeks if possible.

9. Organize a study notebook for each class. If your notebook is sloppy and disorganized, visualize your value in the same tone.

10. Attend ALL classes! Do not register for classes during the time that you know of other activities, such as work, will overlap or interfere in your study time. Learning how to manage your time reduce the stress you'll feel like improving your work alone.

11. Buy a calendar and note what you need to do every day. Write the date of examination, when the paper is due, reading assignments, and study time scheduled. How much time do you need for each task will depend on the length and difficulty of the task. Look at the assignment given that day and started breaking it into manageable chunks. For example, break the task of research papers into parts of smaller, for example, library research, reading material, developed a line, make a rough draft. Schedule each task on the calendar as a daily task that must be resolved. Allow extra time in the schedule. That way if you hit a snag you have time to deal with it. Do not procrastinate. 17. Large study groups to clarify some concepts, but they should be used to complement personal study time-not replace them. Study groups could digress into a discussion about the instructor or other students, try to stay on track. Be sure to read all the necessary materials before the meeting a study group so that you can contribute to the discussion and maximize your profits from the meeting.

18. Become familiar with the book and started reading the first chapter before class begins. This way, when instructors provide one to three chapters to be read at the end of the first week you will be ahead of schedule. If you have received a copy of the beginning of this syllabus will assist in determining the chapters to begin with because not all texts are read straight through.

19. Keep up with assigned readings, be sure to read the information that will last in the class before the class session. By doing this, you will be familiar with the vocabulary and concepts about the lecturer speaks, and you can take questions from the reading that the professor can not be discussed during the lectures. Reading ahead will also help you take better notes on the material.

20. When you start reading the text, the first scan or survey the chapter you read. Look at the pictures, graphics, and titles. Write the vocabulary words that are foreign to you. Look for the words in the word list or dictionary before you start reading this chapter. Read summaries of each chapter and study questions the author has provided. Ask yourself what you already know about the material that will be discussed in this chapter.

21. When you read a chapter, mark important information as you read. Use a highlighter, underline, or place a check mark next to the margin information. If you mark the entire page you mark too much information; mark just enough to jog your memory.

22. Read up on the block a short time. You will remember more of what you read than if you do a marathon reading session.

23. Once you have completed reading and marking the chapters go back and write brief notes about the material that has been marked. Stick with the basic facts and new information for you.

24. When taking notes in class using short phrases rather than whole sentences. Develop your own set of abbreviations or acronyms. Leave some space in the margins for lecturers can add additional information later. If you become confused or lose some of the information marked with a question mark and ask for information clarified then or after class or search for topics in the text later.

25. If you have difficulty taking notes, finding someone in the class who takes good notes and ask if they would be willing to provide copies of them. Continue to take your own notes because listening to lectures and taking notes at the same time help you remember information better. Then check them against the other set of notes after class. Look at the classmate information you record and use this example to improve your skills record. You also might want to consider tape recording lectures, and then listen to the recording while reviewing both sets of records. Be sure to obtain permission before recording college lecturer.

26. If you need help, ask for help from the instructor immediately, not after you fail the class.
   

In short, to maximize your success in college:

1. Develop strategies, study skills, and support network!
2. Attending classes.
3. Arrive on time, pay attention, and participate in class discussions and activities.
4. Talk to the instructor. Ask a question.
5. Complete and check all the work. Submit the job neat and clear.
6. Monitor your progress. If you start falling behind, ask for help.
7. Stay in contact with the office of disability support services and your professors.

1. First of all, come in contact with people who are in contact with English literature or spoken. Keep aside all shame and doubt and say anything that comes out of your mouth. They certainly will criticize you and you have to ... ... ... .. lend an ear, yes, lend an ear for it, because here start your actual training. Try to do what they ask. Criticism will not always positive. But you must always be positive.

2. Never be afraid when you fail to choose the advice given. On the basis of personal observation, I can state that the people, who took some time in reconciling force until they are bound by new duties, went out to have a better sense of duty. This may be due to mental work that they do in the time taken and have the opportunity to create new concepts to subside quietly as part of their general repertoire.

3. A new language can not be studied in a wink. So consistent and determined.

4. To improve your vocabulary, surf the Internet, read the local and international journals of your choice in English, listen to the news on the radio, watching television, especially talk shows. But keep in mind that a good vocabulary does not guarantee a good speech. In order to get something useful out of it, you have to resort to our first suggestion.

5. Reading - Spend some time in reading. Whether it is books, magazines, or newspapers, reading is the best way to improve your vocabulary, and comprehension of language. Choose books that meet the level of language comprehension. Gradually, you can switch to the more difficult as improving your English. Also, if you need to improve your basics, there are many grammar books that teach you how to make sentences etc. If you find some words you do not know the meaning, be sure to see them in the dictionary.

6. Speak loudly, in front of a mirror or perhaps a friend or sister. This will increase your ability to talk and boast your confidence.
                                                                                                              
7. Try writing a small essay, story, or paragraphs on a regular basis. You might want to get it checked by an individual believes that can provide positive criticism where improvements can be made.

8. Try, try, try again, until you succeed.

Badai Matahari Meningkat di 2012

Badan Antariksa Amerika Serikat (NASA) memperingatkan jika sepanjang tahun 2012 dan 2013 aktivitas matahari tengah meningkat dan mengakibatkan badai matahari yang lebih sering di bumi. Badai matahari (coronal mass ejection/CME) merupakan pelepasan energi besar radiasi dan gas pembakaran dari permukaan matahari. Radiasi ini menyebar ke luar angkasa dan akan sampai ke atmosfer bumi.

Badai matahari yang cukup besar bahkan bisa mengakibatkan badai magnetik di bumi hingga kerusakan listrik, sinyal telepon, dan kekacauan Global Positioning System (GPS). Fenomena alam pelepasan plasma panas dari Matahari sebenarnya merupakan hal yang wajar terjadi. Tapi aktivitas matahari tengah memasuki siklus 11 tahunan, di mana akan mencapai puncaknya pada 2013 nanti.

Namun, penduduk bumi tidak perlu khawatir karena badai kali ini tidak akan menimbulkan kekacauan alam. Malah, akan menghasilkan fenomena alam indah, aurora. "Ada 20-40 persen peluang terjadinyna badai geomagnetik," ujar Solar Dynamics Observatory NASA dalam akun Twitternya. "Jika Anda tinggal di dataran tinggi, coba perhatikan terjadinya aurora."

NASA juga menegaskan sudah siap untuk mengatasi badai matahari ini. Namun, yang disayangkan adalah terganggunya kehidupan sosial masyarakat karena saat ini mereka sudah sangat tergantung dengan teknologi yang bakal bermasalah saat badai matahari menghantam.

"Masyarakat modern sangat bergantung pada sistem berteknologi tinggi seperti GPS dan komunikasi satelit. Semua ini sangat rentan dengan badai matahari," kata Lika Guhathakurta sebagai ahli fisika dari NASA. Untuk mengatasinya, NASA mengaku sudah bekerja sama dengan beberapa perusahaan penyedia teknologi untuk mewaspadai dampak badai matahari.

1. How to Write an Essay
There are many ways to write an essay. However, the standard essay form follows the same basic patterns as discussed in this 'how to'.
Here's How:
  1. Select the topic of your essay.
  2. Choose the central idea, or thesis, of your essay. For example: Information technology has revolutionized the way we work.
  3. Outline your essay into introductory, body and summary paragraphs.
  4. The introductory paragraph begins with an interesting sentence. For example: Home workers have grown from 150,000 to over 12 million in the past 5 years thanks to the wonders of the computer.
  5. After this first sentence, add your thesis statement from above.
  6. Use one sentence to introduce every body paragraph to follow. For example: The Internet has made this possible by extending the office into the home.
  7. Finish the introductory paragraph with a short summary or goal statement. For example: Technological innovation has thus made the traditional workplace obsolete.
  8. In each of the body paragraphs (usually two or three) the ideas first presented in the introductory paragraph are developed.
  9. Develop your body paragraphs by giving detailed information and examples. For example: When the Internet was first introduced it was used primarily by scientists, now it is common in every classroom.
  10. Body paragraphs should develop the central idea and finish with a summary of that idea. There should be at least two examples or facts in each body paragraph to support the central idea.
  11. The summary paragraph summarizes your essay and is often a reverse of the introductory paragraph.
  12. Begin the summary paragraph by quickly restating the principal ideas of your body paragraphs. For example: The Internet in the home, benefits and ease of use of modern computer systems...
  13. The penultimate sentence should restate your basic thesis of the essay. For example: We have now passed from the industrial revolution to the information revolution.
  14. Your final statement can be a future prediction based on what you have shown in the essay. For example: The next step: The complete disappearance of the workplace.
Tips:
  1. Use strong verbs and avoid modals to state your opinion. It is better to write: The workplace has evolved than The workplace seems to have evolved
  2. Do not apologize for what you are saying. An essay is about your opinion.
  3. Do not translate from your mother tongue. It will quickly get you into trouble!

2. Use this Sample Basic Essay as a Model


The essay below demonstrates the principles of writing a basic essay. The different parts of the essay have been labeled. The thesis statement is in bold, the topic sentences are in italics, and each main point is underlined. When you write your own essay, of course, you will not need to mark these parts of the essay unless your teacher has asked you to do so. They are marked here just so that you can more easily identify them.


"A dog is man's best friend." That common saying may contain some truth, but dogs are not the only animal friend whose companionship people enjoy. For many people, a cat is their best friend. Despite what dog lovers may believe, cats make excellent house pets as they are good companions, they are civilized members of the household, and they are easy to care for.
In the first place, people enjoy the companionship of cats. Many cats are affectionate. They will snuggle up and ask to be petted, or scratched under the chin. Who can resist a purring cat? If they're not feeling affectionate, cats are generally quite playful. They love to chase balls and feathers, or just about anything dangling from a string. They especially enjoy playing when their owners are participating in the game. Contrary to popular opinion, cats can be trained. Using rewards and punishments, just like with a dog, a cat can be trained to avoid unwanted behavior or perform tricks. Cats will even fetch!
In the second place, cats are civilized members of the household. Unlike dogs, cats do not bark or make other loud noises. Most cats don't even meow very often. They generally lead a quiet existence. Cats also don't often have "accidents." Mother cats train their kittens to use the litter box, and most cats will use it without fail from that time on. Even stray cats usually understand the concept when shown the box and will use it regularly. Cats do have claws, and owners must make provision for this. A tall scratching post in a favorite cat area of the house will often keep the cat content to leave the furniture alone. As a last resort, of course, cats can be declawed.
Lastly, one of the most attractive features of cats as house pets is their ease of care. Cats do not have to be walked. They get plenty of exercise in the house as they play, and they do their business in the litter box. Cleaning a litter box is a quick, painless procedure. Cats also take care of their own grooming. Bathing a cat is almost never necessary because under ordinary circumstances cats clean themselves. Cats are more particular about personal cleanliness than people are. In addition, cats can be left home alone for a few hours without fear. Unlike some pets, most cats will not destroy the furnishings when left alone. They are content to go about their usual activities until their owners return.
Cats are low maintenance, civilized companions. People who have small living quarters or less time for pet care should appreciate these characteristics of cats. However, many people who have plenty of space and time still opt to have a cat because they love the cat personality. In many ways, cats are the ideal house pet.

Inilah Cara:

    Pilih ide sentral, atau tesis, dari esai Anda. Sebagai contoh: Teknologi informasi telah merevolusi cara kita bekerja.

    Garis esaimu menjadi pengantar, paragraf tubuh dan ringkasan.
